ArcheAge Chronicles: Throne of Hinnon Key

Quick Answer

In ArcheAge Chronicles, the Throne of Hinnon key is on a small elevated ledge in the Sunken Ruins, northeast of Watchtower of Hope. Climb toward the upper jumping area, then use your Glider to cross the stone pillars, pausing on a landing while its cooldown finishes. Collect the key and check your Bag before leaving. The key location and dungeon entrance are different places: take it to the Altar of Seals, where the Bound Tyrant encounter is, and use it on the locked door. This route is documented in Ser Medieval’s October 2026 Demo video. The narrator is uncertain about a possible earlier lantern encounter, so this guide does not present that encounter as a required unlock.

Before you set out

Prerequisites#

  • Use the ArcheAge Chronicles Demo, associated with Steam base app 3218230; the official store currently offers a separate Demo download.
  • Have a Glider available for the pillar crossings shown in the source video. This page does not establish its quest-acquisition steps.
  • Keep the Sunken Ruins key pickup separate from the Altar of Seals dungeon doorway.

Route 01

ArcheAge Chronicles Throne of Hinnon key route#

The video’s key route runs from 0:18 to 1:28. Use its landmarks to separate the climb, pickup, and return trip.

  1. Travel northeast to the Sunken Ruins#

Start from Watchtower of Hope and head northeast to the Sunken Ruins. This is where the video locates the key, rather than at the dungeon door. If you have only reached the Altar of Seals, return to the ruins for the pickup before attempting that door again.

  2. Climb to the upper jumping area#

Ascend toward the place used for the upper jump. At 0:40–0:51 the narrator turns away from continuing along the main upper route and glides across the stone pillars. Use those pillars as intermediate landing surfaces. The source does not supply coordinates, a named teleport destination for the ledge, or a required keyboard binding.

  3. Pause between glides and inspect the side ledge#

At 0:53 the narrator explicitly waits for the cooldown. Continue the next crossing when the Glider is available, then inspect the small ledge shown at 0:56–1:00. This is the stated pickup location. The demonstration character already has the key, so the video shows the location and inventory item rather than a fresh pickup animation.

  4. Confirm the key in your Bag#

The narrator opens the Bag to identify the dungeon key. Check that you actually have that item before retracing the route. Reaching the ledge alone is different from confirming the pickup. If the item is absent and you cannot find it, keep that result unresolved; this source does not establish a respawn timer or an alternative drop.

  5. Return to the Altar of Seals doorway#

Go back to the Altar of Seals, identified in the video as the area with the Bound Tyrant skeleton boss. At 1:22–1:28 the narrator indicates the door where the key is used. He mentions teleporting if you have Hereafter Stones; this page does not assume that every character has the resources for that option.

Pocket list 02

Find the next check from where you are stopped#

  • At the Altar of Seals before finding a key: check your Bag before leaving the doorway. If the dungeon key is absent, the next documented destination is the Sunken Ruins, northeast of Watchtower of Hope. The source places the pickup there, so searching around the locked Altar doorway is a different search from the one demonstrated at 0:18–1:00.
  • On the upper ruins but unsure which crossing to take: compare your position with 0:40–0:58. The narrator climbs toward the upper jumping area, turns toward the pillars, makes a crossing, waits for the cooldown, and indicates the small ledge. Identify those successive surfaces before taking the next flight. The source supplies a visual route, not a compass bearing or an exact jump-distance measurement for each crossing.
  • On the ledge without a visible pickup: compare your inventory with the item shown at 1:04–1:12. The demonstration character already owns it. An empty-looking ledge therefore does not, by itself, identify a failed quest, a required enemy kill, or a respawn problem. If your Bag also lacks the key, record both observations and your current quest state; the video does not establish the cause of that combination.
  • Back at the Altar with the item: use the doorway shown at 1:22–1:28 as the final landmark check. The video introduces the Bound Tyrant encounter to identify this area; it does not state that defeating that boss is an additional condition for using the key. Avoid converting a nearby landmark into an unverified requirement.
  • Already inside and stopped by another gate: use the interior mechanism check below instead of repeating the outdoor key search. The video changes from the key-and-door route to four Sigils and a lever. Note which side of the entrance you are on when asking for help: “the dungeon will not open” can otherwise describe two separate situations with different documented next actions.

Is the lantern or revenant encounter required?#

That prerequisite is not confirmed by the source. At 0:23–0:35 the narrator says he does not think there is a prerequisite, then mentions a lantern and revenant encounter as something other players had suggested. Those two statements do not establish either a mandatory quest or proof that no requirement exists. Start by checking the documented key route. If your own objective state blocks it, note the message and quest state before looking for a separate verified answer. Do not complete an unrelated encounter solely because a possible prerequisite was repeated as certainty.

The key opens the entrance, not every interior gate#

The same video separates entry from the mechanisms inside. At 1:42–1:51 it explains that four Sigils must be activated; a lever is used at 2:45, and the fourth Sigil opens a gate at 3:29–3:31. If you are already inside, returning to the outside key ledge is not the action shown for opening that interior gate. This guide stops at distinguishing those tasks. It does not prescribe a boss build, a minimum entry level, a farming rate, or a guaranteed solo strategy.

Field questions

Throne of Hinnon key questions#

Is the key beside the dungeon entrance?
The documented pickup is in the Sunken Ruins. The door that uses it is at the Altar of Seals. They are separate stops on the route.
Does level 8 or 9 unlock the door?
The narrator recommends roughly level 8–9 for preparation after describing entry. He does not establish that as a mandatory entry level, so it is not an unlock requirement here.
Why does the source not show a new key appearing?
The narrator says his character already has it and cannot collect it again. The video identifies the ledge and shows the inventory item; it does not prove how an absent pickup behaves for every character.
Does this apply to the eventual full game?
This answer is bounded to the October 2026 Demo footage. Later builds can change the route, requirements, or item behavior. No full-release reproduction is claimed.
