Banjo healing XP and leveling · Frostburn · v0.2.0.20 evidence boundary
Far Far West Banjo Leveling: Healing XP After the Buff
Quick Answer
To level the Banjo under the September 8 update, use it in the secondary slot and right-click to heal yourself or nearby allies when HP needs restoring. The patch raised its XP multiplier from 0.6 to 1 and added XP based on player HP healed, including your own. That means actual healing matters; it is not a documented fixed XP reward for every button press.

Use the Banjo’s healing XP change and understand the Lullabard trade-off without relying on an unproven farming build.

Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- Use v0.2.0.20 or the applicable later patch; older slow-leveling advice may predate the buff.
- Equip the Banjo in the secondary weapon slot.
Caution
The September 8 XP change#
The v0.2.0.20 notes increased the Banjo XP multiplier from 0.6 to 1 and added XP for HP healed to players, including yourself. Current community replies acknowledge a melee XP increase. Older complaints still explain why players found leveling slow, but they do not describe an unchanged pre-buff rule.
Route 02
Use healing during play#
Keep the Banjo equipped#
The Banjo uses the secondary slot. Its right-click action heals you and nearby allies.
Heal HP that needs restoring#
The XP change is based on HP healed. Use the healing action when health is missing; do not assume repeatedly pressing it at full health grants a fixed reward.
Watch progress across comparable play#
No official HP-to-XP conversion ratio is given. Compare your own progress under similar mission conditions rather than expecting a particular amount of XP per heal.
Caution
Lullabard trades slam for healing support#
Lullabard provides an extra chord per hit and a wider healing range, but removes slam. The September 8 patch expanded base healing range from 650 to 1024 and Lullabard range from 1300 to 2048 in the patch’s units; these values are not labelled as metres. Choose the upgrade for its healing trade-off, not as a proven fastest-leveling build.
Caution
No guaranteed fastest farm#
The XP buff does not establish an XP-per-minute rate or a best farming method. Idle healing, a higher difficulty or an old build clip is not a guarantee of faster progress. If XP still appears wrong, include your game version, Banjo level, mission and actual healing in the bug report.
