Crop plot planting · Week 250–251 current-player evidence boundary
ICARUS Crop Plots: Make Seeds and Plant Them
Quick Answer
If an ICARUS crop plot is empty and inspecting it gives you no planting option, make the seed first. In the current player-reported flow, harvest the plant you want to grow, craft the Seed Separator from the normal character crafting menu, place the plant in its inventory, and let the handle animation produce seeds. Collect a seed, select it in your inventory as though you were placing a deployable, aim at the empty plot, and confirm when the green plant preview appears. Harvesting a plant no longer guarantees an automatic seed in the situation described by the current thread. Exact recipes, supported crops, conversion ratios, processing time, growth values, and irrigation rules are not established here, so read those details from the current build.

Before you begin
Turn a harvested plant into a seed with the Seed Separator, then place that seed onto an empty crop plot using the current deployable-style flow.
Current peer-attributed plant-to-seed-to-plot sequence; no invented recipe, compatibility, yield, timing, irrigation rule or water prerequisite.

Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- Have an empty crop plot already placed where its interaction surface is easy to reach.
- Carry a harvested plant of the crop you want to grow; the saved evidence does not provide a complete supported-crop list.
- Use the Seed Separator named in the current player answer; do not substitute another machine because its name also contains seed or extractor.
- Keep exact recipe, yield, processing seconds, water bonus and fertilizer behavior tied to the live build because those values are not verified in this review.
Why inspecting the crop plot does not plant anything#
The current player question comes from someone who could pick up or inspect a crop plot but could not put anything into it. The useful reply identifies a changed two-stage flow: plants and seeds are separate items, and the plot expects the seed item to be placed onto it rather than accepting the harvested plant through the inspection panel. That explains why repeatedly inspecting, moving or replacing the plot does not solve the blocker. The same discussion says harvesting no longer automatically gives the seed in this situation, so the player first needs the Seed Separator from the default crafting menu. The machine accepts harvested plants and visibly turns its handle while creating seeds. The safe answer is therefore procedural: turn the plant into a seed, collect the seed as a separate inventory item, then use the placement preview over the crop plot. The thread does not prove recipes, ratios, timing, compatibility, irrigation requirements or later-version behavior.
Route 02
Extract a seed and plant the crop plot#
Follow the item state from harvested plant to seed to planted plot. If one stage is missing, do not skip forward and blame the plot.
Confirm the plot is empty#
Inspect the plot only to verify that no crop is already assigned. If the panel says nothing is planted, leave it in place. Picking it up and redeploying it will not create the missing seed item.
Open the normal crafting menu#
Look for the Seed Separator in the character crafting menu described by the current player answer. Do not search only in a workbench, and read the full live item name before crafting another farming machine.
Craft and place the separator#
Build the machine using the recipe shown in your live build, then place it where you can reach its inventory and output. This guide intentionally does not publish ingredient quantities because the saved evidence does not establish them.
Put the harvested plant inside#
Move the plant item into the extractor inventory. The thread describes the handle beginning to turn as the process starts. If nothing changes, verify that the item is a supported plant and that it is actually in the machine rather than only highlighted in your own inventory.
Collect the produced seed#
Wait for the current process to finish and transfer the seed item to your inventory. Keep the plant, seed and grown crop conceptually separate; the placement step needs the seed item.
Select the seed and aim at the plot#
Select the seed as you would a deployable. Move the cursor over the empty crop plot until a green plant-shaped preview appears. That preview is the important signal that you are targeting the plot with the correct item.
Confirm placement and recheck the plot#
Place the seed when the preview is valid, then inspect the plot again. The crop should now occupy it. Water, fertilizer, growth time, greenhouse bonuses and harvest yield are separate systems and are outside the narrow evidence for solving the empty-plot blocker.
Pocket list 03
Keep the planting items separate#
- Seed Separator — the current player-reported machine used to turn harvested plants into seeds for this workflow.
- Other seed machines — do not substitute them unless the live recipe and interface identify them as the same function.
- Exotic Deposit equipment — a separate system and not the crop-to-seed answer.
- Crop plot — receives the produced seed through a placement preview; it is not the machine that creates the seed.
- Harvested plant — the input described by the current thread; do not assume it can be planted directly.
- Seed item — the output you select and deploy onto the empty plot.
- Unknown here — exact recipes, supported crop list, input-to-seed ratios, processing seconds and power requirements.
- Unknown here — water and fertilizer bonuses, growth duration, greenhouse modifiers and later balance changes.
Fault ledger
If the seed still will not go into the plot#
- Inspecting the plot shows nothing to plant
- Leave the inspection panel and create the seed first. The current flow uses the seed as a placeable item rather than choosing a harvested plant from that panel.
- You cannot find the machine
- Check the normal character crafting menu for Seed Separator. The current player answer says it does not require a workbench.
- The separator does not start
- Verify that a harvested plant is inside its own inventory and watch for the handle animation described by the player reply. The saved evidence does not prove that every plant is supported.
- No green preview appears over the plot
- Confirm that the produced seed is selected, the plot is empty, and your aim is on the planting surface. Reposition for a clear angle before rebuilding anything.
- Another reply says to connect water first
- Treat water-line comments as separate farming optimization or speculation. The saved answer to the planting blocker is seed extraction and deployable-style placement, not a verified water prerequisite.
- A guide promises a fixed seed yield
- Use the live machine output. No exact input ratio, processing time or later-version yield was established by this review.
Field questions
Crop plot and seed questions#
- Can I plant the harvested plant directly?
- Not in the current sequence described by the player thread. Convert it into a seed first, then place the seed onto the plot.
- Where is the Seed Separator?
- The current peer answer places it in the normal character crafting menu rather than requiring a workbench.
- Do I need another seed machine?
- Not for the saved workflow. Use the Seed Separator named in the thread and follow the live item names if a later patch changes them.
- How do I know the seed is aimed correctly?
- A green plant preview should appear over the empty crop plot before you confirm placement.
- Is water required before any seed can be placed?
- That is not established by the saved answer. Solve the item-flow blocker first; evaluate water and growth systems separately in the live build.
Current evidence and version boundary#
The player question and planting sequence were observed on September 30, 2026. The discussion directly names the Seed Separator, default crafting menu, plant input, turning handle, seed output and green placement preview. It is peer evidence, not developer documentation for every crop. Recipe costs, supported inputs, ratios, processing time, growth values, irrigation rules and later UI changes remain Unknown and should be read from the current build.
