Linux download entry · September 2026 Steam release
KAYF-LIFE Linux Download: Missing Install Button
Quick Answer
If KAYF-LIFE: Complete Edition has no download button on Linux, add the mod to your Steam wishlist, then use its wishlist entry to add it to your library and install. The developer gives the wishlist route for the missing button, and a Linux player reported that adding it to the library that way solved their download problem. You must own Half-Life 2. This is an acquisition workaround, not a guarantee of Linux compatibility.

Before you begin
Try the wishlist-to-library route when KAYF-LIFE’s install button is missing on Linux, and check the Half-Life 2 ownership requirement.
For Steam’s missing download entry on Linux; installation access and game compatibility are separate questions.

Prerequisites#
- Use a Steam account that owns Half-Life 2; the mod’s store page lists this requirement.
- These steps address a missing download or install entry, before troubleshooting how the game runs.
Route 01
Try the wishlist route#
Use the Steam store and library entry for KAYF-LIFE: Complete Edition, app 1950750.
Add the mod to your wishlist#
Open the mod’s Steam store page and choose Add to your wishlist. Use the same account whose library you intend to install into.
Open its wishlist entry#
Go to your Steam wishlist and locate KAYF-LIFE: Complete Edition. Use the available option there to add it to your library or install it. The Linux report specifically confirms adding it through the wishlist to the library; it does not describe a Linux terminal command.
Check your library for the mod#
Once the entry is in your library, continue with the installation option Steam offers. If the entry or installation option is still missing, check the Half-Life 2 ownership requirement before treating the problem as a game launch failure.
Caution
Adding the game is separate from running it on Linux#
The checked Steam store page lists Windows system requirements. A successful wishlist-to-library report does not prove native Linux support, a particular Proton version, or playable performance. The developer’s separate Win+R shortcut is a Windows method; do not look for a Windows Run dialog on Linux. If installation succeeds but launching fails, that is a different problem from the missing button covered here.
