Phantom Nitro Archive No Audio: Sound Settings to Check
Quick Answer
For the 2026 Steam release of Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE, open CONFIG or press C in-game, then choose SOUND. Check the separate BGM, SFX, and Voices switches and volumes, and use Test SFX and Test Voice. If everything is silent, also check Windows output volume and the selected device. Official troubleshooting suggests trying 16-bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) for that output device; it is a suggested check, not a guaranteed fix.

Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- These instructions use the 2026 Steam release and official manual Ver 1.00 dated September 4, 2026.
- Note your current Windows output format before changing it so you can restore it.
Route 01
Identify which audio is missing before changing settings#
Silence in every category, one muted character, and voices cut off by text advance have different controls.
Check the three SOUND categories#
Open CONFIG or press C, then select SOUND. BGM, SFX, and Voices have independent on/off switches and volume controls. Use Test SFX and Test Voice to check those categories directly.
Check an individual character when only one voice is missing#
Individual Voice Settings can mute a particular character. If music and sound effects work, inspect voice settings before changing the whole output device. The game supplies Japanese voice audio; an absent English dub is not evidence of a sound fault.
Check the system output if all categories are silent#
Confirm system volume, the intended headphones or speakers, their connection, and the sound driver. In the active playback device’s Windows sound properties, try the Default Format option 16-bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality), then Apply. Windows labels and the route to this setting vary by version. Restore the prior format if the change does not help.
Separate cut-off speech from total silence#
End voice playback at next line and Wait for voices to finish during auto play affect when a spoken line stops or text advances. Use these controls for cut-off speech; they do not explain every case where no music, effects, or voice plays.
