Withering Realms Birdcage Puzzle: A1 and B2 Explained
Quick Answer
In the Withering Realms birdcage puzzle, each spoken instruction identifies a hanging target and a hit count. A1 means hit target A once; B2 means hit target B twice. Follow the instruction you actually hear rather than treating A1 and B2 as one fixed sequence for the whole puzzle. Use a lantern if the hanging targets are difficult to see.

Before you set out
Prerequisites#
- You are in the room with hanging targets and a speaker after taking the card from the birdcage.
- Make the targets visible before counting your attacks.
Route 01
Turn each instruction into a target and count#
The letter and number have different jobs. Solve one instruction at a time.
Listen for the letter#
Match the spoken letter to the corresponding hanging target. This guide does not assign a universal left or right position to A and B; use the target identities in your room rather than a camera-relative direction.
Count the number of hits#
For A1, strike A once. For B2, strike B twice. The same reading makes A3 three hits on A and B3 three hits on B. The number is a count, not a second target.
Follow the next instruction you hear#
Continue applying the letter-and-count rule to the speaker’s instructions. Lighting the room with a lantern helps you see what you are striking. Do not replace the live instructions with a guessed complete code.
Caution
Keep the count separate from an unconfirmed weapon issue#
A reported extra-hit interaction with a talisman has not been established as a universal cause, so this page does not prescribe an equipment change or promise a specific reward. If your inputs do not match the result, record the exact instruction, target and equipped weapon for a focused report.
